2008
NFPTV was founded by World Fire Safety Foundation (WFSF) Co-Founders Adrian Butler and Karl Westwell so Not-For-Profits can advertise on TV .  .  .  for free!  The WFSF aired several ads warning about ionisation smoke alarms in late 2008.

2010
NFPTV provided Hannah's Foundation with over 700 free TV ads that aired across Queensland promoting drowning prevention.

2010
Queensland's mandatory swimming pool fencing legislation enacted.

 2011
NFPTV provided free TV ads for several Not-For-profits including the World Fire Safety Foundation  (WFSF - see 'Tireless Campaigner' story below). The WFSF's TV ads warned that the ionisation type of smoke alarm in most homes around the world are unsafe.

2011
Photoelectric-only legislation was enacted in Australia's Northern Territory.

2016
Nationwide, photoelectric-only legislation was enacted in New Zealand.

2017
Queensland's state-wide legislation was enacted. This is the world's most comprehensive, photoelectric-only legislation. Approximately A$1.4 billion is being spent to remove all ionisation alarms from all Qld Homes.

2020
A revised U.S. national standard (UL217-8th edition) provides a legitimate smouldering fire test that stand-alone ionisation alarms are unable to pass. This will result in their eventual elimination from all U.S. homes.
